Passekudah is one of the most beautiful and tranquil beaches in Sri Lanka. This area was inaccessible for decades due to the civil war. However it is now open to all and is renowned for having the longest shallow coastline in the world!  Passekudah has thankfully maintained its raw beauty due to the many years of isolation. This unspoiled rich beautiful coastline is one of the most favourite beaches in the East Coast. Growing popularity as a tourist destination has led to many reputed hotels and accommodation being set up to cater to the growing demand.

About 90 minute drive from Trincomalee and Polonnaruwa this blissful beach is ideal for; a relaxing beach stay, to explore stunning marine life and shipwrecks or engage thrilling water sports. It is best to venture this area from April to October when monsoon rains have eased and the beach is sunny and welcoming. Note; as much as the weather is relatively rain free the raving heat could be a little overwhelming.

If you wish to explore the beauty of Passekudah in a different angle try cycling around the area and mingle with locals and experience its unique culture.
